Happy 4th of July

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th. I want to thank all our service men and woman who have or are still fighting for our freedom. I'm so grateful for the sacrifice that each one has made to ensure I have the liberties that I have grown so accustomed to. To the families of those who are serving I pray the Lord comforts you.

We took Grace to feed the ducks. Apparently we haven't been eating enough bread because we had quite a bit that was stale. Grace said the cutest thing when I was doing her hair. I had just dressed her in a red white and blue outfit.
The conversation went a little something like this:
Grace: "Mom, do you think the ducks will like my outfit?"
Me: "Well,a,I guess they will,sure."
Grace: "Do they know it's the Forth of July?"
Me: "I don't think they celebrate the Fourth of July sweetie"
Grace: "Maybe they are afraid of the fireworks."
Me: "Probably"
I love kids. I am always humored by what she thinks up.
I love the 4th of July. It is such a fun time. This year, well like every year, we had a barbecue at my parent's house. This year was a blast! Not only did we have family but we had friends, friends of family and family of friends. My mother loves to entertain and she is good at making any event a fun one. We just finished cleaning up after this years extravaganza and she is already planning next years party. We had great food, a pinata and a watermelon eating contest. Jason took home a $25.00 gift certificate for the Texas Roadhouse. By the way Jason, your in charge of the prize for next years eating contest. We had enough fireworks to rival the Stadium of Fire. Okay none of them really left the ground but we had lot. Frank and my brother were lighting 3 at time and it still took forever to finish. I was a little nervous how Kohen would react to the fireworks. I kept his ears covered the entire time but he talked and laughed. I think I watched him more than the fireworks. Afterwards we headed over to West Jordan High's parking lot to watch the big ones that the Western Stampede let off. It was a great day.

My brother Chris got married this weekend to the sweetest girl ever, Kayleen. This past week has been a whirlwind of emotions and events. On Thursday my Aunt Sherry and my cousin Don came into town for the wedding. We had a beautiful rehearsal dinner at Biaggi's at the Gateway downtown. If you have never been there you must go, it is wonderful. Besides being stressful it was one of the most emotional weeks of my life. Even though I am so excited to get a new sister, I can't help but feel like I am losing my one and only brother. I can't wait to hang out and double date, Frank and I haven't dated for quite some time. Their wedding was like a fairytale. Kayleen was the most beautiful bride I have seen. She really did look like a princess. Gracie did an awesome job as flower girl. She was a little reluctant at first but once she got started she was tossing those rose petals like a champ. The ceremony was beautiful. The reception was perfect. The entire day went off without a hitch. Right now they are honeymooning in Cancun and swimming with the dolphins. I have to admit that I'm just a little jealous. Welcome to the family Kay.

Kohen's Dedication

On Mother's Day we had Kohen dedicated to the Lord at church. This a covenant that Frank and I make with God that we will raise our children in the way of the Lord. I pray each day that God gives me the strength and wisdom to do what is right by him in raising my children. Being a parent is the most difficult but yet most rewarding job I have ever had. We are not only responsible for the physical and emotional wellbeing but the spiritual as well. It is a task that I don't want to take to lightly. I don't want to regret anything. My Pastor made a comment in church on Sunday that really hit home. He said that he would rather fail at all other aspects in his life but he would be crushed if he failed as a parent. I feel the same way. I want to thank our family and friends who came out to support us. I love each and every one of you. I believe God has placed us in each others lives for a purpose.

Catchin' up

It has been a while since my last post. I have been a little busy and haven't much time to update it. So here it goes.
Two weeks ago my good friend Ginger and I took our chickadees to the Aquarium in Sandy. Grace loves hanging out there. Her favorite sea creature is the octopus. She thinks it is so cool that it doesn't have any bones. She's getting a bit more daring when it comes to touching the stingrays.


On Sunday we went for a family walk around the neighborhood and Grace showed off her bike riding skills. Last year she got very frustrated because she couldn't pedal and watch where she was going at the same time. This year she has made a vast improvement. She was smiling from ear to ear. She also finally learned how to use the breaks instead of dragging her feet to stop her.

This past Monday we packed a sack lunch and headed for the park. The kids had a blast. It was such a nice day. I wish we could have more days like that. The sun was out and there was a cool breeze to cool you down just enough. I miss spring.
The highlight of the week was Thursday. It was Gracie's first gymnastics class. She has wanted to do gymnastics for quite a while but our schedule before I quit working made it too difficult to do. She loved it. Her favorite are the bars and the balance beam. I hope this will help channel some of her energy to something productive.


Well I think that gets me caught up. I'll try to stay on top of things better.

It's Party Time!

Yesterday was my baby shower. My mom and mother-in-law threw me a wonderful party. I am very blessed to have such wonderful friends and family who came out to support me. I appreciate all the wonderful gifts. When he is born I will not have to worry if I will have enough clothes for him. I think he has more clothes than Frank and I combined. I am about a week away from D-day. I think I am ready. Physically I am done being pregnant, but I still have a million things I want to get done before the big day. I am not sure if it a desire to spring clean or if it just my nesting instinct starting to kick in. Either way I am feeling the need to clean my ceiling fans and shampoo my carpets.

I finally did it.

Due to much prompting from some friends I finally got my own blog! I am not sure if I will get the hang of this, seeing how I am not very computer savvy. Well I am 34 weeks and counting. My due date is April 10. I am getting excited to meet our little one. I think he is ready to come out, I guess that is why he is always kicking me. I am feeling pretty good, except for at night when I am trying to sleep. I just can't get comfy. I am very excited and thankful that I get to finally be a stay at home mom when the baby comes. Grace is thrilled. She will get to be home with me until she starts pre-school in the fall. She is excited to be a big sister but she is still hoping for a girl. Frank is doing great. He is working for IHC and is in school completing his pre-reqs to get into the nursing program. We are very proud of him. It has been a bit of an adjustment for him since the last time he opened a book to study was about 10 years ago in high school. This semester has been his toughest so far. He is taking biology. Well I better get back to cleaning the house or it will never get done this weekend.
